First off, I need to say right here and now; I do not consider myself to be a 'writer'. When I was younger, eons ago, I somewhat entertained the idea of writing. However, very soon into adulthood (20 or so) I realized that a writer I am not.
I'd have ideas here and there, quite often in some cases, but these ideas were never anything more than elements of an actual story. What I always (and I do mean always) lacked was that very important thing called a plot. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't connect any given idea to an actual plot. And this was a constant struggle.
Even as time when by, and I had long since moved on from the idea of any type of writing, I'd still have ideas here and there and I'd still try and build upon them. But as always, that mandatory aspect of any story would be lacking; again, the plot.
Then, as 2020 began, an idea hit me out of nowhere, and this time it actually came with a plot. I know, I was just as shocked as anyone!
So I ran with it. I did some research, I drafted an outline, and then I got to work on the first draft. Once that was finished, I moved onto editing. My wife loved it and encouraged me to do whatever it took to get it published.
After more research, I realized that traditional publishing wasn't for me, so I got to work on a path for self-publishing. It's been a long road, and I'm still not quite done, but I'm finally getting close.
Please check back soon. In the very near future, I plan to reveal the cover, add the prologue and first chapter, and then provide links to any storefront where each edition will be available for purchase. I will be working on an eBook, hard cover and paperback for sure. I may also work on an audiobook, but that will be decided in time.
Thank you,
R.P. Lauer
P.S. I cannot stand writing about myself in the 3rd person. It breaks tradition, but I've already done that in many ways, so what the hell?
